Principle: a fundamental truth serving as the foundation for your system of belief and behaviour.
-ology: A subject of study or interest
Our personality is shaped by a complex interplay of conscious and unconscious principles. A mix of which we are aware of and actively choose to follow, mixed with deeply ingrained beliefs and assumptions that operate beneath our awareness.
Both types of principles exert a profound influence on our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
Conscious principles provide direction and purpose in our lives, guiding our decisions and actions. Originating from our family's history, our own history, our experiences and environment, they create our personal values, moral beliefs, or aspirations for the future. By consciously aligning our lives with our chosen principles, we can create a sense of coherence , meaning and success (especially when we remove our negative principles).
Our unconscious principle on the other hand, operate automatically and influence our behaviour without us being aware. These principles are rooted in childhood experiences, cultural conditioning or societal norms. While unconscious principles can be helpful, they can also lead to self-limiting beliefs and behaviours.
Understanding the presence of both your conscious and unconscious principles can help you gain a deeper understanding of your leadership style. Identifying and challenging these principles can help you remove the limiting ones and expending the positives ones, allowing you to become more authentic, congruent and successful.
